Connect ‘n’ the Broch

Connect ‘n’ the Broch can be found on Broad Street nestled in amongst the hustle and bustle of Fraser burgh’s town centre. 

Connect ‘n’ the broch – formerly  known as Café Connect. is a project that came about when it was identified by a local voluntary organisation, Fraserburgh Community Web, that there was a need in the area for employment and personal development opportunities for adults with disabilities in an environment integrated into the community. The project had aspirations to act as a ‘stepping stone’ for individuals who could then progress into employment in the private and public sectors. In April 2010, Café Connect opened its doors and has been an increasingly important part of the community ever since.

Sadly due to pandemic of 2020, Cafe Connect closed its doors.  During the early months of the pandemic, project members worked from a different building, still providing business services for the public, During that time however,  New skills were discovered and this is where “Connect ‘n’ the broch” was formed.

A love of arts and crafts were discovered and this has now developed into a craft shop, where members of the public can buy little pieces of art or craft items. We also have local crafters and makers who rent a shelf space to promote their products within the shop.

Finally, the Connect ‘n’ the Broch is the home of this very website visitfraserburgh.com which is central to the project’s desire to benefit Fraserburgh and its community in undertaking physical regeneration, promoting cultural enterprise, tackling economic and social disadvantage, making a commitment to learning and development, and helping to ensure that the local area is attractive and vibrant with a positive image and reputation.
